A blustery day in New York City with my sister.

We're on our way to a matinee.  
It's our first time in The City and we're both a little lost.
Trying to find an address a few streets away, we take a brief wrong turn.

IMAGE IN MY MIND: half a dozen nuns in formal black-and-white habits crossing 42nd Street with the neon of porn theaters in the background.

I few seconds later, a gust of wind lifts my ginger hair.

And old man stops, briefly catches a strand of my hair gently and stares at it in the afternoon sun, then lets it go.
The look on his face is haunted, like he's chasing a memory.
He never speaks.
He lowers his eyes and shuffles off.
