How did I get pets?!??
My beloved
stormsongk and I have gone from being home alone to being Owned By Pets in less than 2 months.
At the beginning of November, our doorstep cat Maggie came walking in the door in the wee hours of the morning as Stormy was leaving for work. We'd been trying to get her into the house for weeks, but I guess cold weather finally did the trick. Cat food probably helped as well.
Six weeks later, she's the queen of our household.
She snuggles on the beds with us, chirps for her food in the mornings, greets us when we come home from work, and chases the laser pointer in the evenings.
As I write this, Maggie is happily curled up next to me.

She's about two years old and is a wonderful little lady.

Then, a few weeks ago, my sister discovered a litter of three kittens living under the dumpster near her apartment. A friend helped coax them from their hiding-place and Wolf fostered them for a couple of weeks. Two of the kittens found a good home several hours away.
I took home the third.
I figured, How much trouble can one tiny creature be?

This little kitten is an entirely different learning experience for us.
Neither of us grew up in a home with cats or kittens.
This guy is a toothy little ball of energy.
He pounces on our feet, climbs on our clothing, and chews on our fingers.
Not even my cameras are safe around him!

He's been with us for a week now. We have him separated from Maggie.
He needs to get his needs his first shots and is still a bit small to be turned loose with a full-grown cat. We've been slowly introducing the kitten and Maggie during supervised visits.
So far, each has hissed at the other at least once.
I hope he'll fit into our family as well as Maggie does.
