New Years meme 2011
What did you do in 2011 that you'd never done before?
Saw a cool medical test on the screen as it was happening. Neat.
What was your favourite moment of the year?
Photographing my beloved misty marsh at sunrise.
I came home soaked and freezing, but it was worth it.

What was your least favourite moment of the year?
Discovering that a dream may be more difficult to achieve.
What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011?
A new septic system for my house.
What places did you visit?
I didn't really go anywhere...
What dates from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
24 July 2011. Equal marriage became law in New York.
Now if only the rest of the country would follow...
It also caused a wonderful fanfic party on LJ:
Let's Get Gay Married
What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Finally getting some much-needed tests done.
Did you suffer illness or injury?
I'm not ill, but there are things that can be improved.
What was the best thing someone bought you?
stormsongk gave me a leatherbound copy of Grimm's Fairy Tales illustrated by Arthur Rackham
Whose behaviour merited celebration?
My loved ones finally got along at our weekends together.
Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My dad's bigotry and homophobia still gets me down.
Where did most of your money go?
Food. I'm eating a little better, though.
What did you get really excited about?
Taking
stormfang89 to FaerieCon to meet our favourite author.
What song will always remind you of 2011?
I can't think of one.
Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder?
b) fatter or skinner?
c) richer or poorer?
About the same.
What do you wish you'd done more of?
Cleaning. I really need to give away more clothes.
Also gardening. I'd like to get my food garden started.
We already grow lettuce in the cooler months and strawberries and rhubarb in the summer, but I'd like to grow fruits as well...especially apples, cherries, blackberries, pawpaws, and medlars.
What do you wish you'd done less of?
Being depressed.
What was your favourite TV program?
Doctor Who. My favourite new (to me) programs were Boston Legal and BBC's Sherlock.
What was the best book you read?
I haven't read nearly enough! John Barrowman's biography was entertaining.
What was your greatest musical discovery?
Malicorne
What did you want and get?
A little more time at home by myself.
What did you want and not get?
Things repaired around the house.
What was your favorite film of this year?
X-Men: First Class.
Fanfic on film...awesome.
What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Peace.
How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2011?
Tonal patterns and textured fabrics.
What kept you sane?
Quiet time.
What political issue stirred you the most?
Equal marriage rights.
Who do you miss?
Badger. More than ever.
Who was the best new person you met?
I don't think I met anyone new this year. :\
What was the best thing you ate?
Gluten-free pancakes with locally-made preserves.
Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
"If I leave my grin behind, remind me: we're all mad here and it's ok."
"Cheshire Kitten" by S.J. Tucker
